President's Message
Institutional message from the President and Legal Representative of NUSAMSBE.
Dear visitors, partners, members and friends of NUSAMSBE,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the official website of NUSAMSBE – Nutrition and Food Security for Better Health and Well-being.
Nutrition and food security are essential pillars of health, human dignity and sustainable development. Yet many families in Burundi still face challenges that limit their access to a sufficient, healthy, varied and balanced diet. These challenges particularly affect children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and vulnerable households.
It is in the face of this reality that NUSAMSBE is committed to making a concrete and lasting contribution to improving people's living conditions. Our ambition is to promote an integrated approach combining nutrition, community health, food security, sustainable agriculture, nutrition education and the strengthening of local capacities.
We are convinced that the fight against malnutrition cannot be sustainable without the active participation of communities, the use of local resources and collaboration between public institutions, civil society organisations, universities, the private sector and development partners.
This is why we work to develop initiatives based on people's needs, scientific knowledge and local realities. Through our interventions, we wish not only to meet the immediate needs of vulnerable people, but also to strengthen their knowledge, capacities and autonomy so that they become actors in their own development.
Our commitment rests on fundamental values: solidarity, equity, transparency, innovation, community participation, sustainability and respect for human dignity. These values guide our actions and our determination to build strong, accountable partnerships that deliver concrete results.
We also consider that investing in nutrition and food security is an investment in human capital, in the prosperity of communities and in the future of Burundi. Our contribution is thus part of a collective ambition for sustainable development, in line with the aspirations of an emerging Burundi by 2040 and a developed Burundi by 2060.
Through this website, we want to help you better discover our organisation, our areas of intervention, our projects, our achievements and our opportunities for collaboration. We invite you to explore our initiatives, share our vision and join us in this common mission.
I extend my sincere thanks to our members, our volunteers, our institutional and technical partners, and to everyone who contributes, closely or from afar, to the fulfilment of our mission.
Together, let us make nutrition and food security essential levers for better health, lasting well-being and a better future for all communities in Burundi.
With my warmest greetings and my commitment.
